Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Kinabatangan River

Pick up from your hotel in Sandakan city or airport, then transfer to the Kinabatangan River area. The journey takes approximately 2 hours along a bumpy but scenic road. Upon arrival, take a short boat transfer to your riverside accommodation.

Enjoy lunch upon arrival, followed by check-in and some time to relax.

At around 3:30 PM, enjoy a light afternoon snack before heading out on an afternoon river cruise safari along the Kinabatangan River—the longest river in Sabah and one of Borneo’s richest wildlife habitats. This is an excellent opportunity to spot proboscis monkeys, macaques, hornbills, and other wildlife along the riverbanks.

After the cruise, return to your accommodation to freshen up. Dinner will be served at approximately 7:30 PM, followed by free time at leisure.

Day 2Kinabatangan River, overnight

Begin your day with a light refreshment before setting out on a 1-hour morning river cruise along the Kinabatangan River. As the rainforest awakens, watch for birds in flight and monkeys leaping through the trees along the riverbanks—an ideal time for wildlife observation and photography.

Return to your accommodation for breakfast, followed by leisure time to relax. For guests seeking a more active experience, an optional guided morning walk is available (payable on-site).

Enjoy lunch around noon, then spend the afternoon at leisure until 3:30 PM. After a light snack, head out once again for an afternoon river cruise safari, offering another opportunity to observe wildlife in their natural habitat.

After the cruise, return to your accommodation to freshen up. Dinner will be served at approximately 7:30 PM, followed by free time at leisure. You may also opt to join a guided night walk (payable on-site) for a closer encounter with the rainforest’s nocturnal wildlife. Rest comfortably for the night, surrounded by the soothing sounds of the jungle.

Day 3Depart Back to Sandakan

Enjoy breakfast before checking out and departing for Sandakan town or the airport. The journey takes approximately 2 hours along an uneven road.
