A: For most of our expeditions, you should fly into Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI). For tours specifically in the east coast (Sandakan/Kinabatangan), we will advise if a domestic connection to Sandakan (SDK) is required.
A: Yes. Due to the remote nature of our tours, we require all guests to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and emergency evacuation.
A: The Clouded Leopard is one of the most elusive cats on earth. While we operate in prime habitats, sightings are never guaranteed. We focus on tracking signs, nocturnal drives, and patience to maximize our chances.
A: Yes, when accompanied by our expert guides. We provide safety briefings and use established trails. The biggest “dangers” are usually leeches and humidity, both of which are manageable with the right gear!
A: Leeches are a part of the healthy rainforest ecosystem. They are harmless but can be a bit surprising! We recommend (and often provide) leech socks to keep them at bay.
A: For birds (Rhino Hornbill) and mammals (Clouded Leopard), we recommend a telephoto lens of at least 400mm to 600mm. A wide-angle lens (16mm-35mm) is also great for the dramatic ancient rainforest landscapes.
A: Most of our partner lodges provide 240V power. However, in more remote “expedition-style” camps, power may be limited to generator hours (usually 7:30 AM – 11:00 PM). We recommend bringing at least two spare batteries.
